This film, 1975’s *'It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time'*, is advertised as a comedy, but I didn’t find myself laughing—not even smiling, really. It felt like an effort to get through, and that’s with it only being 90 minutes long. The movie seems mostly remembered because it features an early role for John Candy, who apparently got his own film with Lawrence Dane, a co-star; I didn't find either of them particularly memorable, especially considering how well-regarded Candy became later on. The rest of the cast wasn’t much better—Stefanie Powers was okay, but Anthony Newley’s character just ended up annoying me. I do intend to watch the follow-up, *'Find the Lady'*, hoping it will be an improvement, though I'm not confident; with Candy in a leading role, it has at least some potential.
