A refined depiction of 1930s America is shattered by a significant disaster, forcing people into a simpler way of life, though not quite prehistoric. The premise held potential for something engaging, yet it devolved into a predictable and somewhat rambling drama centered around a romance, a rescue of the female lead from violent criminals, and a final scene that felt overly sentimental. While some of the initial visual effects are acceptable considering the year—1933—the narrative and the characters lack depth; neither Peggy Shannon, playing Claire, nor Sidney Blackmer as Martin, deliver particularly memorable performances, almost resembling early versions of the "Dumb and Dumber" duo. Fred Kohler, portraying Jepson, appears to be imitating a character from a “Tarzan” movie. The film progresses at an adequate pace, but ultimately failed to leave a lasting impression.
