It felt like an obligation to watch this film. The initial parts progress very slowly, featuring extended conversations and explanations that ultimately feel pointless. The cinematography is unremarkable, adopting the uninspired, "flat" visual style common in action movies from the nineties; however, this was released in 2003, so there's really no reason for it to look like that. Burt Reynolds’ appearance felt odd and disconnected, which only contributed to the overall lack of focus. Daniel Bernhardt is reliably good, but his screen time is limited. There's a fight sequence where he faces off against Matthias Hues inside a cage, though the scene itself isn't handled well and doesn't offer much excitement. Still, the final portion is reasonably effective considering the film’s budget and type of movie, and it did prevent it from being an utter loss of time.
