The movie begins with a really strange scene.... The initial sequence shows some bandits pursuing a gold delivery, but it's being transported on a bus – just a regular coach with passengers enjoying a ride as the villains chase after them on horseback! That’s when John Wayne and the "Mesquiteers" come up with a plan to purchase an airplane so they can transport the bullion safely from then on. Understandably, the shipping company owner isn't happy about this development and hires some tough guys to stop their clever scheme. Louise Brooks adds some glamour to the proceedings, and overall it’s a pretty cheerful adventure film; there’s not much of significance in either the story or the writing beyond that unusual combination of elements which marked the permanent decline of this genre as an important part of life for many who would still remember what the old west was like.
