Stephen Boyd’s presence doesn't elevate this western; it actually highlights his limitations as an actor. The story involves “Rimes,” played by Boyd, helping the confused "Noon," portrayed by Richard Crenna, to piece together his identity, origin, and how he ended up with amnesia. When moments of clarity surface, "Noon" remembers a hidden stash of gold, prompting him and “Fan” (Rosanna Schiaffino) to search for it before the unpleasant “Judge Niland” (Farley Granger) and his eccentric companion “Peg” (Patty Shepard) can get there first. Director Peter Collinson managed an adequate job with this production, but these international collaborations rarely live up to their potential on film. Crenna delivers a competent performance, though not particularly memorable, and the cinematography is pleasing, supported by a lively score from Luis Bacalov. It doesn’t offer anything fresh or original, and it's unlikely I will revisit it.
