It shouldn't come as a shock – criminal activity ultimately leads nowhere good. This offering from MGM’s crime reporter recounts the events surrounding a mayor set on eliminating organized crime. The opening moments make it clear that without any immediate targets, he meets an untimely end, and his death leaves law enforcement with a puzzling situation to unravel. While there's an apparent suspect, it seems almost too easy, particularly given that one of the deceased official’s assistants appears intent on pushing for a rapid conviction. The plot is fairly straightforward, but it does provide a somewhat fascinating look at how developments in science can uncover significant leads from seemingly insignificant materials like fibers, powders, and fabrics—things we'd normally overlook, but which, when assembled as evidence, can be quite impactful. The narrative feels a bit forced, though; if you’re devising an evil scheme, it might serve you well to consider wearing a hairnet and gloves.
