Ambush at Cimarron Pass proved rather dull. While I don’t believe it’s quite as terrible as one report suggests Clint Eastwood once claimed, I do share the sentiment that this 1958 movie feels like a weak attempt at crafting a western. The characters didn't appeal to me; they weren’t particularly off-putting either, and what happened on screen simply didn’t provide any amusement or enjoyment. Eastwood delivers a dependable performance in what was likely his most significant role up until that point, but the supporting cast didn’t make much of an impression—Scott Brady is about the only one who stood out to me among them. Eastwood stayed away from acting for a while after this, not returning until 1964, when he reappeared with the Dollars Trilogy, and I'm eager to see those films!
