The film's script is where _Shin Kamen Rider_ stumbles most noticeably. The narrative feels like a series of battles connected by references to the past, with not much else holding it together. While the acting provides some entertainment and the visuals are striking, particularly in their unique angles during the action scenes, the movie misses opportunities for humor, impressive choreography, and nods to the history of the franchise. Ultimately, _Shin Kamen Rider_ feels like a directionless reimagining that’s probably going to be the least memorable of Hideaki Anno's tokusatsu revivals.
