The film Layar explores a thought-provoking idea concerning how the pandemic affected neighborhood movie theaters, showing what happens when people attempt to bring back a cherished local cinema. Unfortunately, problems with the story’s internal consistency, the sequence of events, and why characters do what they do detract from its credibility. Even though it had promise, the film's actual production—particularly the performances and conversations—doesn't quite measure up, despite still providing some worthwhile observations about longing for the past and shared recollections.
