While journeying through the jungle, documenting their surroundings with photographs, "George" (Onslow Stevens) and his spirited daughter "Patricia" (Peggy Ann Garner) come across a surprising sight. It’s a boy! He's wearing only a loincloth and mimicking “Tarzan” without any singing, and they meet "Bomba" (Johnny Sheffield). He turns out to be helpful when Patricia gets separated from them and lost; his quick thinking saves her, leading to a budding friendship that unfolds alongside some activity in the nearby village. As she develops an interest in this new acquaintance, she shares stories about urban life with him – but will he desire something more, or is he content where he is? I thought Johnny Sheffield was charming in these jungle escapades, which add a touch of moral instruction to a fairly simple adventure story featuring energetic stock footage and a subtle romantic element. It runs on perhaps fifteen minutes too long, but it remains an agreeable film, characteristic of its era, that’s easy enough to watch and cautions us about destructive locust swarms.
