I was close to liking *’Scandalous John’*, but that feeling really only comes from the final moments; otherwise, it’s pretty unremarkable. The concept of pairing Brian Keith and Alfonso Arau seemed promising, however, Keith's performance felt exaggerated frequently, and his character didn't win me over—while Arau’s part occasionally disappears altogether. I have to admit that I did find the ending appealing, as it took an unexpected turn and brought a touch of genuine emotion to the story. Still, even that wasn't enough to make me think much more highly of it. 3*.
