As a teenager, I wasn’t really into sitcoms; my TV viewing leaned more toward crime, police, and detective shows. Still, I have to say I enjoyed occasional episodes of 'Night Court', though it wasn't something I watched often or with great excitement. Richard Moll was my favorite part of that show—he had a presence similar to Richard Kiel’s, but he was funnier and more engaging. Recently, I stumbled across a pretty bad horror anthology from the 80s ('Night Train to Terror'). The segment directed by Marshak, McGowan and Tallas, called 'The Case of Claire Hansen', stood out as the most well-done and interesting part (thanks to ‘Hollie Horror’ for pointing that out!). While watching several movies a day, I started getting this weird feeling like I'd seen it before. It was nice enough to watch the whole thing, but then I noticed Moll’s face and voice seemed familiar, except he had hair—he was bald in 'Night Court', as some people might not recall—and his name was ‘Charles Moll’ in the credits, which left me a little puzzled; could it be a relative? It turned out to be him. The movie itself evokes similar themes to horror classics from the previous decade like 'The Exorcist', 'The Omen' and 'The Amityville Horror', where you see that familiar battle between good and evil, with demons being the source of the trouble. Considering it was a low-budget film, it manages to create a decent atmosphere and mood, features some interesting performers, and has impressive cinematography, along with an especially strong final scene. The special effects are inconsistent; sometimes they work well, other times they’re hilariously bad—likely because there were three directors involved, which isn't usually a good sign for a movie telling one story (too many people working on something can easily ruin it). One really negative thing was Faith Clift’s performance as Claire Hansen, the main female character. While she was attractive for her age, her voice was incredibly flat and lifeless. I would definitely suggest checking out this film if you're into horror movies and looking for a good time—it runs for 94 minutes.
