I have to be honest, there were stretches where I felt completely lost... "Mantou" has been raised by "Daguzi," also known as “Biggie,” for quite some time. However, things take a turn when a large wooden ship resembling a submarine arrives, bringing with it the "jellieels." These creatures have commandeered the vessel, and their method of conversion – through what appear to be flying umbrella-like bodies – turns humans into one of them. If they manage to spread far enough, they intend to harness an approaching storm to create a new ruler who will then control everything. What’s preventing this from happening? The King has dispatched troops armed with firearms, led by his daughter and accompanied by her brother, who is fixated on locating a sacred satin cloth belonging to their only possible ally: a tribe of people who look somewhat like ants. As the story nears its end and the significant storm that could lead to the creation of this new king begins to fall steadily as rain, one can only hope that everyone will be able to overcome past disagreements and that the abilities of the "fairy brother" combined with their collective efforts can stop what's unfolding – a sort of Cronos-style rebirth. The beginning features an abundance of beautifully written text on screen which explains some of the mythology and origins behind these events, but I couldn’t understand what any of it said, so I had to guess who was who and what was happening. Despite that, the animation is lively and well done enough to compensate for some of the character development shortcomings, making the story fairly enjoyable even if a little bewildering. A second viewing might clarify things, but perhaps this puzzle is best left incomplete – especially for those speaking English.
