"Motorama," made in 1991, offers a quirky look at the American Southwest through a strange story about the unpredictable course of existence. The film includes appearances from several recognizable actors, including Robert Picardo, Mary Woronov, Meat Loaf, Irwin Keyes, Michael J. Pollard, Vince Edwards, Flea, and Susan Tyrrell. Drew Barrymore is featured on promotional materials like the movie poster and DVD/Blu-ray cover, but her role is brief—she’s only in the film for roughly 20 seconds as a character representing the boy's ideal of a girl. At the time of filming, she was 15, just a few months away from turning 16. Cynthia King has an equally short appearance playing a teenage passenger. I found myself chuckling occasionally and appreciated the winter scenery of the Southwest; however, I didn’t find enough compelling elements to fully hold my attention. It feels like a peculiar oddity that would have benefited from some revisions to enhance its entertainment value. Nevertheless, if you enjoy road movies and are open to an unconventional style, it's possible you might connect with it more than I did. The film has a running time of 1 hour and 29 minutes and was filmed in the Glen Canyon area of north-central Arizona and south-central Utah; Fox Plaza in Century City served as the location for Chimera Headquarters.
