It’s hard to say exactly what was going on in *mother!*, but I still found it pretty entertaining, even if my initial understanding was incorrect compared to explanations I’ve read later. That doesn’t bother me; being entertained is really the main thing. Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem both deliver strong performances, and they definitely carry the movie. Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer also have memorable parts. The casting across the board was excellent. Visually, the film is stunning, with impressive effects and cinematography. The experience of watching it play out is strange and intense—in a good way. It’s certainly one of the most unusual movies I've seen, and that’s saying something considering I watched *Rubber* (2010).
