The Chinese government is put out by a meticulously planned and successfully carried out theft on the Trans-Siberian railway, prompting them to join forces with Russian police in an attempt to find and arrest these violent criminals. Their investigation quickly pulls them into Moscow’s dangerous and complex criminal scene, where they discover that the thieves have set their sights on something much larger – a goal that poses a threat to anyone who gets in their way. A noteworthy aspect of this film is that we're introduced to both the investigators and the perpetrators early on, allowing us to observe one group’s planning while the other tries to stop them. While the performances, particularly Andy Lau’s, aren’t outstanding, the script and Herman Yau’s direction combine to create an action-adventure movie that is at least as entertaining as "Expend4bles." The film contains numerous action sequences, including car chases and gun battles, and the ending felt a bit like a combination of "The Italian Job" and "Mission: Impossible.” It runs a little long, but it moves along quickly, and I found it to be quite enjoyable.
