I previously gave the first MORTAL KOMBAT movie a tentative look, largely because of its action sequences. This follow-up does at last present the tournament that enthusiasts were hoping for, but achieving this comes with some drawbacks: a crowded storyline, a villain who doesn't get enough attention, and special effects that occasionally fall short of the quality visible elsewhere. Karl Urban really stands out as Johnny Cage, easily surpassing the performances of those around him, and Adeline Rudolph is close behind. However, most of the rest feels hurried and not fully developed.
