I really didn’t think it was as bad as everyone said. I wasn't aware of just how negatively 'Morbius' had been received until afterward, which is ideal because it allowed me to come to my own conclusion – and that conclusion is that I didn’t hate it. To be fair, there isn’t much about it that I particularly loved either; it’s simply a film that won’t stick with you. It actually felt like the shortest movie I've seen all year—the time just zipped by. The performances were uneven. Jared Leto had some decent moments and I was generally okay with him as the main character, while Matt Smith didn't always land his scenes, but he also didn’t bother me. It was nice to see Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson in supporting roles too. Mostly, the special effects are adequate. I recall hearing that people were wondering why practical prosthetics weren't used and they relied so heavily on computer-generated imagery for the character's faces—I personally didn’t find it problematic, a combination of both approaches would have been preferable, but I wouldn’t have noticed anything amiss if I hadn’t heard about it. The dialogue has some clunky lines, especially that line about hunger, and the scenes after the credits roll don't generate any real anticipation or curiosity. Otherwise, I honestly didn’t dislike this movie. It’s a solid 6/10 in my book. I do have to say though, it’s the least impressive of the first three SSU films.
