Morbius continues the string of disappointments coming from Sony’s Marvel universe collaborations. While Jared Leto and Matt Smith give solid performances, and there are moments with striking visuals during the action scenes, a tired screenplay that feels decades old undermines nearly everything. The story suffers from an absence of originality and predictability, compounded by excessive exposition that doesn't engage the viewer. Director Daniel Espinosa’s biggest challenge stems from the obvious lack of attention paid to developing the characters. There are numerous plot holes that become difficult to overlook, worsened by choppy editing, a final act overloaded with computer-generated imagery, and music that feels lifted from somewhere else. It's hard to recall another major studio production in recent memory that has been quite so cringeworthy. Rating: D
