It’s an enjoyable film I wouldn’t mind seeing again, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. Since I don't have much enthusiasm for the video game itself, I believe it’s safe to say that familiarity with the source material isn’t necessary; knowing only that it involves "big monsters" is enough. The visual elements from the game world are fairly minimal, mostly just showing characters gaining strength as time passes. It attempts a kind of world-building through distinct areas or “levels,” but this element is quite understated. The film explores themes of solitude in various ways and features some resourceful problem-solving using what's available, though ultimately it’s largely about battling large creatures. I can’t guarantee that fans of Kaiju films will find it appealing, despite its creature feature qualities. It’s worth checking out, but the narrative isn’t particularly deep.
