Many websites published negative reactions to Monolith, with several scores around 2 or 3 out of 10. I feel those assessments are too harsh, particularly when you consider the state of films currently available. The premise behind the story is certainly intriguing; it brought "Black Mirror" to mind because of its subtle commentary on technology and problematic behaviors. The conclusion works well enough, although it’s disappointing that we don't learn more about how things ultimately resolve between the main character and her spouse. I have no issues with the acting, as Katrina Bowden gives a really strong performance throughout. Some of the visual effects near the end felt unnecessary and looked awkward. The film’s settings are impressive, and the cinematography does them justice; if you appreciate landscapes featuring desert mountains, you'll enjoy every scene showcasing them. Does the movie drag at times? Occasionally, yes, and there are a few questionable decisions made along the way, but it isn’t nearly as bad as some people claim.
