It's a decent film that I might revisit someday, though I’m not sure I can wholeheartedly suggest it. The movie is certainly unusual. It features a stop-motion style monkey character, Brendan Fraser delivering a performance where he seems aware of how strange the situation is, a realm for both the living and the departed, and Whoopie Goldberg portraying Death. Plus, Dave Foley appears nude. The plot—involving an imaginary being seizing control of its creator’s body to carry out some sort of scheme—is genuinely compelling. However, the overall quality falters at times, especially during the final section. When a film begins strongly but concludes poorly, it tends to leave a less than favorable impression. It was pleasant enough to watch, but it had potential to be significantly stronger, and there are numerous other films I’d prefer to see.
