I saw this film quite some time back, and hadn't retained many details about it. Given the generally favorable reception and Bob Hoskins’ involvement, I figured it would be enjoyable. However, it lacked the humor I recalled, and the storyline concerning a man attempting to “rescue” a prostitute felt rather commonplace and foreseeable at times. It simply didn't resonate with me, and I struggled to stay engaged throughout. My disappointment was significant enough that I chose not to seek out any other gangster films starring Hoskins, regardless of their ratings.
