I’d been anticipating Colonel Braddock. A greeting to the People's Republic of Vietnam. Chuck Norris portrays Col. James Braddock, a former prisoner of war from Vietnam who eventually returns with the goal of confirming—and freeing—American soldiers still being detained. As martial artists began achieving stardom in film during the 1980s, Chuck Norris established himself within that action-oriented trend. Like many similar movies, *Missing in Action* is silly, filled with violence, and nationalistic, but it's also undeniably entertaining. This really depends on what you expect from this kind of movie; just switch off your thinking and appreciate the over-the-top nature of it all. It’s somewhat frustrating that there isn't more of Norris' fighting ability showcased, as gun battles and typical punches and kicks take center stage instead. The plot doesn't require much thought, and several scenes seem to exist solely for displaying bodies and muscles, but the presence of M. Emmet Walsh as a lively supporting character provides enough enjoyment for viewers who aren’t looking for anything too demanding in their action films. 5/10
