It’s easy to dismiss another film about American politics, and if you do, you'll be overlooking something truly special. The story isn’t rooted in actual events beyond the recent controversy surrounding gun control, nor is it based on a novel; that originality really impressed me. It was an exceptionally well-crafted screenplay, and I can hardly imagine how someone could write so skillfully specifically for film, rather than adapting from existing material. Considering today's focus on equal rights and opportunities for women, the movie serves as a positive example of moving in the right direction. The narrative begins with a courtroom scene before flashing back to show what transpired beforehand. A vote is scheduled in parliament regarding a new bill, and Miss Sloane’s firm divides over disagreements, leading two teams to battle each other on the same issue but striving for opposing outcomes. The pursuit of MPs and all the ensuing dramatic moments unfold as they're willing to do whatever it takes. The story concludes with an unexpected turn, where one side emerges victorious, but at a significant cost. Even if politics aren’t usually your thing, this film transcends that; it functions more like a portrayal of an election campaign team and how they operate to reach their objectives, especially highlighting the tension between them. It felt somewhat like a game of cat and mouse, though the viewpoint wasn't balanced. The majority of the movie is viewed from Miss Sloane’s perspective. Jessica Chastain delivers a performance that rivals her best work; it’s baffling that this film was overlooked during awards season. She deserved to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. I realize I watched it somewhat belatedly, but I'm glad I didn't miss it, and I encourage you not to either. _8/10_
