I have to say, _Midsommar_ is probably my biggest letdown of 2019. I'm not claiming it’s poorly made, but going into this after seeing last year’s excellent _Hereditary_, and with all the enthusiastic recommendations from horror fans online, I suppose I had pretty high hopes. It doesn’t sit right to admit this, but truthfully, I’m relieved I didn’t see this in a movie theater. Partly because I think I would have been upset to pay $25 for what it turned out to be, and partly because I really don't want to risk straining my eyes from the intense brightness that fills nearly every frame of _Midsommar_. _Final rating:★★½ - There was a lot here that I liked, but it just didn’t quite come together._
