I almost found myself enjoying *Midnight in the Switchgrass*. The promotional image is deliberately deceptive; it’s one of those Bruce Willis films, and there are quite a few like it, where he appears briefly to bolster the primary actors—Megan Fox and Emile Hirsch. Fox delivers an acceptable performance, though Hirsch likely stands out most among Willis, Fox, and himself. I believe Welker White gave the strongest showing; he demonstrated considerable emotional depth. Lukas Haas was also well-suited for his part. My comments earlier probably give away how close I came to liking this film. It simply lacks something essential—as I write this review, I feel like it could have been more substantial. The movie did at least lead to the (temporary) pairing of Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox.
