The famous line “I’m walking here! I'm walking here!” comes to mind—though the delivery felt a bit labored, maybe. Dustin Hoffman consistently demonstrates his talent for fully embodying his roles; he simply disappears into them. He has a real skill in performing that distinctive, rumbling cough. It was so realistic while watching that I actually put on a surgical mask, just as a precaution. Voight is predictably excellent playing the role of someone pure surrounded by corruption. Observing this initially optimistic character gradually shedding his idealism is genuinely affecting. A caution: you might want to clean your television screen afterward because of Hoffman’s performance. It's better to be safe than sorry. - Potential Kermode
