Mickey 17 proves to be a remarkable and unusual film, largely thanks to a stunning portrayal by Robert Pattinson. I saw Mickey 17 featuring Robert Pattinson (known for Tenet and The Batman) in the role of Mickey Barnes/Mickey 17/Mickey 18, alongside Naomie Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, Blink Twice) as Nasha Adjaya, Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Timo, Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things) as Kenneth Marshall, Toni Colette (Hereditary, Knives Out) as Ylfa Marshall, Anamaria Varolomei (Happening) as Kai Katz, and Holliday Granger (The Borgias) as Gemma. The movie’s a striking success because it's satirical, strange, and deals with big questions about existence. It examines ideas of who someone is and how easily they can be replaced, all set against the story of humans settling on the planet Niflheim. Combining clever satire with imaginative science fiction concepts, Mickey 17 seems like a contender to rival Dune: Part Two in 2025, presenting some serious thoughts about staying alive, going through cycles again and again, and what it costs to expand into new territories. Bong mentioned he drew inspiration from elsewhere. The character of Nasha appears to represent someone similar to Kamala Harris, portraying a controlled but restricted presence within politics, while Kenneth Marshall seems like a reflection of figures opposing the established order—perhaps comparable to Ron DeSantis or another populist on the right. Their relationship highlights the political divisions in America, where the two major parties maintain a system that limits real change. This contrast strengthens the film's satirical and relevant commentary on political deadlock, manufactured disagreements, and the fight for genuine progress. The music is fantastic, composed by Jung Jae-il (Gremlins), and Darius Khonji (Uncut Gems) did an excellent job with the cinematography; Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) directed. Mickey 17 is a standout film because it's satirical, weird, and existential, with Robert Pattinson delivering an incredible performance. I’d give it a 9/10.
