This feels like something entirely new in animation, possibly one of a kind. It's an unusual film combining Scandinavian and English language elements, remarkable from a technical standpoint. It appears to be an experimental project from a newer production house, created largely with Photoshop and then Adobe After Effects for the animation process. The style is what’s referred to as 2.5D – not quite two-dimensional nor three-dimensional, but somewhere in between; it gives the impression of making a 2D object appear like a 3D material. The filmmakers have achieved a visually striking animation that puts considerable emphasis on the characters' faces. The plot is acceptable, presenting another dystopian scenario centered around metro trains, which explains the title 'Metropia.' However, the name also signifies 'visual refraction,' and the story has a slight connection to that concept. Despite being suspenseful until the very end, it’s largely a drama with dialogue rather than action. There were moments when it reminded me of the recent stop-motion film 'Anomalisa', but I quickly realized my assumption was incorrect as the narrative took a different course and concluded satisfactorily. Overall, the movie is quite impressive from both a technical and storytelling perspective. It’s worth seeing simply for its unique approach, particularly if you enjoy animation, though it's probably better suited for adult audiences. 7/10
