The film was originally titled 'S.W.A.L.K.', which stands for 'Sealed With A Loving Kiss,' but they changed it for international distribution to its current name. It proved to be quite a pleasant surprise—honestly, I didn’t anticipate that at all. Sometimes films aren't intended to achieve massive financial success; I mean, this movie had a rather disappointing run in theaters domestically, even though it performed well overseas. I am genuinely happy I got to see this wonderful film. I’ve enjoyed 'A Little Romance,' 'My Girl,' and many other similar movies (you can find them listed under ‘Similar Movies’ below), but this one was just exceptional; it left me speechless. When someone asks for recommendations of children's romance films to watch with kids, nieces, or nephews, this will definitely be the first movie that comes to mind. It’s worth spending time together watching. The cast was fantastic. Everyone delivered excellent performances, from the teachers and principal to the parents and supporting actors. The top three character portrayals really left a lasting impression. It's easy to see why people have started calling it a cult classic—this movie will endure with fans unlike blockbuster films that come and go so quickly. I’ve already watched it several times, mainly because of the seamless combination of acting, music, and its innocent storyline. ''When is the wedding, Danny lover boy?'' The music was another strong point. All the soundtracks were very catchy and melodic, fitting with the title perfectly. The Bee Gees did an exceptional job. I’ve added several new tracks to my 'film songs' collection now. Sometimes I find myself humming 'Daaa dee da dee da da dah' and 'Melody fair' without even realizing it. Who doesn’t love 70s music, really? Many people appreciate the film because it evokes childhood memories—and it did the same for me. It makes you think about how much you miss those carefree days before you were aware of the complexities of the real world. That’s essentially what this movie is about: two preteen kids falling in love, but the story takes an unexpected and quirky turn. It initially seems like a simple friendship developing, then gradually moves toward something more. Beyond the main characters, Melody and Daniel, the third character, Ornshaw, was equally good; he’s a troublemaker who quickly becomes a favorite. His schemes and chewing gum are highlights of his role and the film overall. The scene where the parents try to explain love and life to their children was particularly touching. I especially like how it ends—I don't want to know what happens next. It’s like a fairy tale with a 'happily ever after,' or perhaps something different, but we simply won't know what they do for the rest of their lives until death comes. Hehehehe. I haven’t said “a must watch” in a long time, so here it is: you really should give this one a try.
