I can’t say I regret watching *‘Meet the Deedles’*, though I might offer a slight apology for doing so. It’s possible my fondness for Paul Walker, thanks to *'The Fast and the Furious'*, is affecting how I feel about this movie, but I genuinely found Walker and his co-star Steve Van Wormer to be agreeable in it. They handle their silly roles well; their characters are just plain awkward—they come across exactly as they’re meant to—and Walker and Van Wormer have a good rapport with each other despite the material. I'm not suggesting this is a particularly good film, though. It’s more of a movie you watch to switch off your mind. I didn't find it laugh-out-loud funny, but there's something enjoyable about watching Walker and Van Wormer together. I only mention those two because the other characters and their storyline are truly awful. I like Dennis Hopper, as most people probably do, but his character’s plot is just bad. It’s as illogical as everything else, but far less entertaining. That almost made me want to give it a negative review, but luckily the focus remains on Walker and Van Wormer; whenever Hopper appears, he's more of an irritation than anything else. I didn’t anticipate liking this, particularly given the promotional materials and how disappointing Disney’s comedies have been recently in the late 1990s. It isn’t a masterpiece by any means, but I’m giving it a 7 out of 10. I can see why others dislike it.
