This is a surprising continuation of the series. I was actually searching for other sequels featuring Statham, especially the third installment of 'Crank'. The concept behind this film seemed promising, and honestly, it wasn’t terrible if you're just looking for something to occupy your time. While the plot itself was quite weak, the filmmaking quality was impressive; a respected German director helmed the project. It really makes you wonder what could have been achieved with a stronger script. Ultimately, the actors and the director are what make it worthwhile. Otherwise, this film lands squarely in the realm of mediocrity. The narrative picks up after Arthur Bishop is located living in Brazil by individuals familiar with his past. He manages to escape and finds himself in Southeast Asia, where he encounters Gina, a woman experiencing domestic abuse. However, he soon realizes that this situation is orchestrated as a trap. After she's taken prisoner by an international criminal, he must comply with the criminal’s demands to secure her release. The action unfolds from there, detailing his various missions across different locations and how everything resolves itself. It’s nice seeing Jason Statham return to the type of character he excels at. He’s reliably entertaining in this kind of role; a weak story is forgivable because watching him on screen is easy and enjoyable. Jessica Alba hasn't been in many significant films recently, and even though the film wasn’t particularly well-received, it feels like this could help revitalize both their careers. They clearly needed something to boost their profiles. A third movie is reportedly in development, although not officially confirmed yet, as the ending included a subtle indication that Tommy Lee Jones will play a significant role in the next chapter. You might not find yourself liking this film overall, but if you're a fan of Statham’s work, it’s certainly worth watching. _6/10_
