It’s unusual for me to seek out comedies made in America today that feature primarily female performers—I haven't even gotten around to films like 'Clueless', 'Bridesmaids', or 'Heathers'. However, I recently found myself appreciating 'The Devil Wears Prada', and because I’ve liked Lindsay Lohan's performances (particularly in 'Bobby' and 'The Prairie Home Companion') and Rachel McAdams’ work (most notably in 'Redeye' and 'Passion'), the fact that Tina Fey, a comedian from SNL whom I admire, both wrote and appears in this one encouraged me to watch it. Positive reviews from male film buffs whose opinions I value also helped sway my decision. The movie delivered plenty of laughs while gently conveying observations about modern American culture and the challenges faced by young women during their high school years. 'Mean Girls' is absolutely worth searching for and watching yourself. Seeing it made me hope that Lindsay Lohan can resolve her personal issues and return to acting, which is where she should be.
