I honestly don't understand why people dislike this film; it's fantastic. While it’s true the director (Stephen King) was using drugs, and some of the performances are exaggerated ("we made you!"), the movie boasts an excellent concept brought to life exceptionally well. The film is steeped in 1980s aesthetics, but I see that as a positive aspect rather than a flaw. It also features a really impressive soundtrack from AC/DC.
