I wanted to yell at Mary Shelley to stop and consider her actions in relation to her mother! The movie makes the mistake of being dull—a major failing for any kind of entertainment. I honestly didn't buy into the idea that the connection between Wollstonecraft Godwin and Shelley was as significant as it’s presented as having been. I also went in expecting a more elaborate backstory for how Frankenstein came about, something beyond "I noticed an amphibian once, then later got tipsy and wrote it down on a whim," but maybe that's my fault for anticipating more. The performances are acceptable, and the period settings look nice, but those were pretty much the only things I remember from _Mary Shelley_. _Final rating:★★ - It had elements I liked, but ultimately didn’t work out well._
