A well-crafted Spanish murder mystery unfolds in an appealing rural setting. It functions effectively as a suspenseful crime thriller, bringing to mind the Korean film 'Memories of Murder'. While sharing similarities in terms of the criminal situation and location, it’s not truly comparable to that earlier work. It was refreshing to encounter a detective story set away from city environments. The Spanish countryside proved visually striking, particularly those marshlands as seen in the aerial shots. I believe viewers will immediately recognize the exceptional cinematography and the 80s aesthetic. A measured narration accompanied the unfolding crimes, building tension while simultaneously showing the investigation’s progress toward revealing what happened. The two detectives were well-developed characters, and their work on the murder cases was compelling. Surrounding them are other figures shrouded in enigma—not just among themselves, but for the audience as well. Predicting events proves difficult, and there are some unresolved elements that allow viewers to form their own interpretations of the story’s pieces. Overall, it's a solid mystery-crime film; however, I didn’t find it completely satisfying because it felt somewhat derivative. Despite this, I am confident that it is worth seeing. 6½/10
