I had lower expectations going in, and it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. The story centers on pop icon “Kat” (Jennifer Lopez), who's planning a televised wedding with her boyfriend "Bastion" (Maluma) for an audience of twenty million viewers. However, complications arise when a video surfaces showing him involved with her assistant, just as she’s preparing for the ceremony onstage, forcing her to improvise. Early on, a somewhat unfortunate math teacher named “Charlie” (Owen Wilson), along with his young daughter and a coworker who brought a "marry me" sign, attends the concert. The colleague steps away to use the restroom, leaving him holding the sign, and "Kat" unexpectedly accepts what she believes is a proposal—though it wasn't actually intended for her! From that point on, the movie focuses on their attempts to get acquainted while dealing with unprecedented media attention – leading up to an ending that’s predictable from miles away. Owen Wilson isn’t good in this; there’s really no other way to put it, but Jennifer Lopez is excellent. She delivers a convincing performance onstage and also manages to portray herself as genuinely likable while adjusting to his more ordinary lifestyle. Maluma is visually appealing, but doesn't add much to the film, and the title song—reportedly written by eight different people—is pretty bad! It would have been more appropriate for this to be released during Christmas; it has a certain festive, uplifting quality, but beyond a very engaging lead actress, this movie isn’t something anyone will likely remember.
