This will probably grab something inside of you, if nothing else does. The story centers on a delightful, orange-footed snail named "Marcel," who’s currently residing with his human companion “Dean” and Dean’s grandmother, “Connie”—she even has a small walking frame—in a house once shared by another couple. Apparently, that previous pair had a rather eventful relationship, and when tensions arose, Marcel and his relatives would find refuge in a sock drawer. However, one day the contents of that drawer were dumped into a bag, which left "Marcel" in his present, somewhat isolated situation. Each night, he and Connie watch “Sixty Minutes,” and they wonder if Lesley Stahl might be able to assist them in reconnecting with Marcel’s family. What unfolds is a genuinely pleasant, distinctive, and captivating little story about "Marcel"—a clever and resourceful character—and “Dean” as they try to bring attention to his situation on an international level. The question remains: will their efforts succeed? There's no real suspense here; it's simply a heartwarming tale—with a hint of sadness—that brings up emotions of yearning, belonging, isolation, but also hope and togetherness, all set in a setting that’s perfect for exploring the walls after you’ve coated your little feet in honey. I genuinely found this to be an enjoyable experience.
