Seeing "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" brought back fond memories of time spent with my grandfather. It's a remarkably inventive and touching story, full of honest humor and significant, lasting lessons about family, friendship, existence, and affection. Difficult subjects are explored through the surprisingly straightforward perspective of a tiny shell. The film’s brief length allows for a thoughtful yet lively journey for viewers. This is easily among the best films I've seen this year; it's something you really shouldn’t miss. Rating: A-
