It was alright in general. The main characters initially appeared to be a strange match, but they did begin to form a connection and seemed like they could possibly become a couple. The movie included moments reminiscent of older, raunchier comedies—at least the writing felt that way, with an abundance of jokes and references about oral sex. A few might elicit a chuckle, but after that it just became predictable. And it also glossed over the behavior of a man who was clearly a stalker and generally unpleasant. The narrative seemed too forgiving toward him at the close. However, there was enough humor, cleverness, and appeal to hold my attention. I thought I recognized some of the actors but couldn’t place them. After checking their credits, I discovered they had both been in films based on Jane Austen's works more than two decades earlier. It’s one of those enjoyable things about British movies and television—seeing familiar faces pop up again. Even though I finished watching it, I probably won’t revisit this film. There are simply too many other excellent romantic comedies available.
