It’s hard to imagine anyone disliking this film. Phyllida Lloyd got a remarkable group of well-known actors involved in this big, Mediterranean-set musical. Meryl Streep and Christine Baranski are genuinely funny, and Julie Walters – particularly when the three of them perform "Chiquitita" – is wonderful. It’s true that it isn't going to be considered a great work of classic film; however, it should put a smile on your face, even if Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, or Colin Firth’s singing moments elicit more of a cringe than anything else. Dominic Cooper does his best as "Sky," who is set to marry the person responsible for this complicated situation, "Sophie" (Amanda Seyfried). Sophie has brought these three men to her wedding with the intention of discovering which one might be her father. If ABBA and musical theater aren't your thing, then you probably won’t enjoy it; otherwise, it’s simply an enjoyable experience.
