The film achieves a remarkable level of storytelling skill. It delves into subjects such as sorrow, bereavement, and maturation in an engaging manner that connects with individuals who have encountered difficulties throughout their lives. The serious elements are offset by instances of comedy, particularly noticeable in the exchanges between the adolescent boy and his father, whose relationship feels genuine and heartfelt. I found the conclusion to be both fulfilling and moving. Furthermore, the film is visually impressive, boasting beautiful camerawork, design, and location choices that build a strong sense of the Sicilian culture and way of life during the depicted era. The actors were perfectly chosen for their roles; the younger performer and Monica Bellucci gave exceptional portrayals. I was especially struck by Bellucci's ability to communicate her character’s emotions through her eyes in the marketplace scene, without needing dialogue. As a man, I identified with Giuseppe Sulfaro’s journey of self-discovery. To be frank, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this movie as much as I did when it concluded. It’s unusual for me to write reviews for films I appreciate, but this one I truly loved. It's certainly deserving of your time.
