Mike Lane, portrayed by Channing Tatum, finds himself working as a bartender at high-end events when he meets the affluent Max, played by Salma Hayek. She proposes $6,000 for a private dance, an offer that significantly alters her circumstances and leads to an unusual proposition taking her and him to London. This development surprises her separated husband, their adopted daughter Zadie (Jemelia George), who narrates the story, and amuses Victor (Ayub Khan-Din), Max’s somewhat doubtful assistant. The film's fundamental problem lies in its effort to impose a narrative onto what had previously been a collection of gentle, erotic dance sequences – scenes that previously allowed viewers to appreciate young men displaying their physiques while providing a generous amount of risqué content. This element is largely absent, even toward the conclusion, which contributes to the film’s difficulty in holding attention. While there are occasional amusing moments, Hayek's performance feels exaggerated and Tatum spends an excessive amount of time appearing idle with his hands in his pockets, both contributing to a forced and artificial-sounding script. There isn't enough activity onstage, and one can only hope this marks the end of his career – it’s simply a disappointing production.
