Adam DeVine delivers a decent performance, however *Magic Camp* feels very standard and unremarkable. There’s a small spark of appeal to be found within it, but mostly it’s foreseeable and awkward—largely because the stories given to the characters feel contrived, even if they are occasionally amusing. The resolution, when everything is revealed, left me feeling somewhat uncomfortable. On the other hand, the magic demonstrations themselves are executed skillfully. DeVine is pleasant to watch, which might be influenced by my enjoyment of his previous work on *Workaholics*. Jeffrey Tambor provides reliable support, and Nathaniel McIntyre does a perfectly acceptable job as the central character. It was ultimately too much for me to handle comfortably. I think "Institute of Magic" would have been a more fitting name, really.
