It's definitely worth checking out, and I’d happily watch it again, encouraging others to do the same. I initially noticed Adam Devine—surprisingly appearing on Disney+ of all places, which isn't typically his kind of role—and thought, "Okay, this looks promising; at least I won’t need to concentrate too hard." Then I saw "Magic Camp," and that sealed the deal for me, knowing it would involve watching magic tricks. I appreciate magic, but my approach is similar to how I view films: critically. And when magic appears in movies—like in ("Now You See Me"), you're essentially trying to figure out what seems genuine versus what’s a movie-made illusion. The initial portion isn't the strongest, which is understandable given it’s setting things up. The obvious misdirection mirrors a magic trick, and so does the film's tempo—a point that’s even addressed within the story itself. Finding out Jillian Jacobs was involved proved to be a highlight; she’s great too, despite being presented as a part-time rival counselor. Ultimately, I believe there’s potential for an even better movie or narrative if Adam Devine weren't the central character. The kids’ stories are far more engaging than those of the adults and truly deserved their own film. While comparisons to "School of Rock" have been made, Adam Devine isn’t Jack Black, and his character lacks that redeeming quality. It could be down to his acting, but he's simply not very appealing. He attempts the actions and delivers the lines intended to make him likable, yet it comes across as insincere. He remains unlikeable, even as he develops a fondness for magic. However, I still strongly suggest watching this film, and I would have enjoyed seeing their talent show presented as a recorded live performance. If you’re a fan of magic, then give this one a try.
