It makes me curious about what Rodriguez might have been experiencing while creating this film, because it surpasses his typical work in both its oddness and extreme violence. What’s disappointing is how disjointed it feels; it's as if scenes were simply linked together without much thought given to the larger narrative. Despite that, I found it provided a decent escape for a couple of hours, and I genuinely chuckled at several of the over-the-top violent moments. However, some of those scenes didn’t elicit laughter—they just made me uncomfortable because they were silly rather than amusing. Casting Charlie Sheen as the president felt like a significant misstep. Mel Gibson portraying Voz was more effective, and I have to admit that I'm a fan of Michelle Rodriguez. Lady Gaga? It was underwhelming. Even Machete himself, which was a primary reason for wanting to see the movie, proved somewhat lackluster. He seemed detached throughout, as if he were simply going through the motions; there wasn’t any real energy or excitement. Ultimately, I left the film feeling let down. As mentioned, I did enjoy it, but it didn't live up to my expectations for a truly enjoyable experience.
