M3GAN successfully set out to be a darkly humorous film, demonstrating a keen understanding of how absurd its concept is. However, this isn't simply a dark horror comedy—it explores themes beneath the surface. At its core, there’s commentary about parents relying on technology to avoid responsibility. When M3GAN is present, Gemma struggles to connect with her niece and allows the android to handle parenting duties, hindering her ability to fulfill maternal instincts. I found this element surprisingly engaging and relevant to modern society, even if it's not a literal reflection of life-size android dolls but rather tablets and phones. Allison Williams gave a solid performance; it was good to see her in another significant horror movie following Get Out. Violet McGraw continues to impress as a young actress—her film credits are already quite impressive for someone so young.
