I consider Luther to be among the finest productions from the UK recently, so I was initially skeptical about seeing it adapted as a film. To put it plainly, the plot’s origins are quite unbelievable, yet somehow it manages to succeed. Essentially, what we have is an amalgamation of familiar elements drawn from the television show, assembled in a way that doesn't entirely make sense, creating a sort of crime blend. The strength of the film owes much to Idris Elba, whose performance surpasses and elevates this imperfect story. He brings energy to a narrative that probably wouldn’t have been as successful with another actor portraying the central character. Ultimately, my imaginative side appreciated this movie, while the more logical part of me couldn't help but question it. It is complete silliness, but genuinely enjoyable silliness, regardless. I suggest checking it out.
