It's hard to justify a movie built around a familiar urban legend when it treats that legend as genuine—as if viewers are meant to accept it at face value. I’m honestly mortified that this production went forward, especially with respected performers like Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman giving committed portrayals, all in service of a premise most people would dismiss out of hand. Did anyone involved question the fundamental absurdity of something like the '10% brain usage' concept?
